Photos of Sydney and surrounds

Recommended Posts

Great idea for a thread and I am really looking forward to seeing more photos! My husband was over in February and took lots of photos but most were of landmarks or gorgeous views of the harbour/beaches. I'd be really interested to see some photos of less photographed areas, sort of everyday life kind of thing.

If you are doing the fireworks sit outside the IMAX (which is suppose to be the largest in the world) or stand on the pyrmont bridge. I never got to see them as when I came out of hospital I wasn't fit enough, but Rob and the youngest went down.

Is that the Endeavour, the replica of Captain Cooks boat? I know its docked at the Maritime. Also if you go in the maritime you can get to go inside a submarine, again something the boys did whilst I was in hospital

NSP there are some stunning photos, I didn't realise Sydney had so many beautiful places. I love the strand arcade I have some photos of the lift somewhere. I could imagine Love Shoes Busking outside with her guitar and getting her hubby singing along :)

Oh and Home & Away my favourite in fact only soap I watch

I have been inside the Opera house on 2 occasions in the past - great atmosphere. Sydney GPO worked there with Telecom - lovely old building. Observatory hill used to be the Genealogy centre - I was a member back in the 80's.

Happy days.

Some more:

It's really worth going on a tour of the Opera House - some of the internal spaces and vistas are really special. Concert Hall itself is amazing, this is one of the reception/lobby areas at the back of the hall

From Dee Why beach (rock formations above the rock baths) towards Long Reef headland. I love it up on Long Reef. For once you're away from the dragon of road noise, even though there are always people up there it seems so peaceful. Great whale watching spot too

A slightly different perspective of the CBD, from the bridge to the Powerhouse Museum (which is excellent BTW, especially if you have kids) in Ultimo
