Breaking a lease

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has done it and if so how far into the lease?

I am becoming increasingly fed up with the place we are at, lovely house, but the yard is a disaster zone and getting worse .....

We broke ours, each agent has different rules in place. We didn't pay a penny, we gave them a months notice in that time they secured another tenant and that was it. I've heard some agents ask you to pay re advertising costs of around $100 and then pay until they find another tenant. Some agents are then slow to find another tenant, however if they take too long you can take it to the consumer affairs.

Are rentals hard to get in your area, would it be snatched up.

I would say go for it then, but maybe before you sign the contract on another just check what their policy is on a break lease
