190 State Nominated Visa

Recommended Posts

Guest Arbrodin

Hi, is it difficult to obtain a 190 State Nominated Visa, I wanted to apply for a 189 PR visa but only have 55 points, if I apply for a 190 this will give me an extra 5 points making the 60' points required. My occupation is on the sol for NSW, being a registered nurse developmental disabilities, I have completed my skills assessment with AMNAC and have applied to APHRA for registration. I wanted to move with my family to live with my sister who live just outside Manly. Does anyone know if this is possible or not, if not I will have to look for sponsorship.

Thanks. Paul

Hi Arbrodin, I have moved your post in to it's own thread then it doesn't get lost. Unfortunately I can't help on the visa side but we have a reputable migration agent on the forum who is called Tee, so hopefully she will be along soon to help.

Hi Paul

Take a look at the NSW state sponsorship web site (http://www.business.nsw.gov.au/live-and-work-in-nsw/visa-and-migration/skilled-sponsored-migration), they will detail any additional criteria that they may wish you to fill in order for them to consider offering you state sponsorship, and those extra 5 points.

On the 190 state sponsored visa the state asks you to make a commitment to both living and working in that state for 2 years once the visa is granted (and if you are outside Australia once you arrive in the country). So you would be able to live in Manley, NSW.

I hope that helps

Tee

Thanks Tee, I have been looking at their site, I wondered if this was a more difficult way to obtain a visa, also I see I have to put in an Eoi, as well as apply to NSW. I was going to wait for my APHRA registration to be completed before moving on to this stage. I was disappointed I did not make the required points for the 189 visa and with a young family I was concerned over the 457 option and long term security of something going wrong. Once my registration is through, my Sister wants to approach an agent to assist with the visa stage too. Is this something you would agree with for the 190 visa? I see that this is your job too, so your advice will be sound. Thanks. Paul

Hi Paul

I have a points calculator on my web site www.TaylorMadeImmigration/PointsCalculator if you want to fill it in (make a note in the other comments section that to say who you are). I would be happy to take a look to see if there are any more points that you might be eligible for - sometimes people miss something.

The 457 has it's uses, it is what it is, but if you are looking for a bit more security, especially if you have family, then obtaining permanent residence can provide that.

Hi Tee,

Thanks for the response, I have visited your site and completed the calculator and left you a note of my circumstances etc. I dont think I can attract any further points unless I re-visit the IELTS to obtain a higher score in each area. If state sponsorship is an alternative, I would consider this as remaining in the state for 2 years would not cause an issue. If not I would consider the 457 however, I would always be anxious about the security of this unless pr was very likely during the 457 period.

Hi Tee, As an additional question, would the documentation that will be with APHRA, be able to be sent to DIAC and used in the visa process, in the way that AMNAC and APHRA have shared it, or would all new documentation be required and signed again by a JP.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul

For the skilled independent visas colour scans of the original documents are generally accepted, via the online application system.
