Guest TeeTMI Report post Posted August 6, 2013 Occupational Ceilings Last year several occupations reached their occupational ceilings early and it appears that this may occur again for the 2013/2014 year. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) have advised that invitations for certain occupational groups in the points-tested migration program will be issued on a pro-rata basis over the 2013/14 program year. They have advised that the states that at the current time they will not be able to nominate any applicants from these occupations for a 190 visa (whether this remains the case is uncertain?). Occupations impacted by this policy change include: ICT Business and Systems Analysts - 2611 Chemical and Materials Engineers - 2331 Electronics Engineers - 2334 Telecommunications Engineering Professionals - 2633 Other Engineering Professional - 2339 Software and Applications Programmers - 2613 DIAC have advised that the total of the occupational ceiling will remain the same but the pro-rata approach will mean that invitations will be staggered and issued to selected individuals over the course of 2013/14 in twice monthly occupation rounds. Guest TeeTMI Report post Posted September 3, 2013 Update on the allocation of places to occupations that have reached their quotas/ceilings DIAC state "Half of the remaining places will be allocated for state or territory government nominations and the other half will be allocated for the invitation rounds for Skilled Independent and Skilled Regional (Provisional). These arrangements will commence on 2 September 2013." Tee
Guest TeeTMI Report post Posted September 6, 2013 The points scores and the visa dates of effect cut-offs for the occupations being issues on a pro-rata basis in the 2 September 2013 invitation round were as follows: Occupation ID Description Points Score Visa date of effect 2331 Chemical and Materials Engineers 75 5/01/2013 12.50 am 2334 Electronics Engineers 65 5/04/2013 9.50 am 2339 Other Engineering Professionals 75 5/04/2013 9.51 am 2611 ICT Business and Systems Analysts 75 23/08/2013 12.19 pm 2613 Software and Applications Programmers 65 9/08/2013 10.44 pm 2633 Telecommunications Engineering Professionals 75 24/06/2013 12.33 am
Guest MIchelle Romano Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Hi Tee, Awesome info. Do you think you have an updated statistic on the # of EOIs wating/# spots available for Materials Engineers. I'm currently at 70 points, and I sent thru just this 03/03/2014. I don't seem to like my chances and my visa expires on the 14/04/2014. Thanks! Cheers, Michelle
Guest TeeTMI Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Here you go Michelle The points scores and the visa dates of effect cut-offs for the occupations being issues on a pro-rata basis in the 24 Feb 2014 invitation round were as follows: Occupation ID Description Points Score Visa date of effect 2331 Chemical and Materials Engineers 75 22/2/2014 5.24 pm 2334 Electronics Engineers 65 14/1/2014 1.25 pm 2339 Other Engineering Professionals 75 3/2/2014 11.31 pm 2611 ICT Business and Systems Analysts 70 31/1/2014 11.31 pm 2613 Software and Applications Programmers 70 14/2/2014 1.32 pm 2633 Telecommunications Engineering Professionals 70 14/2/2014 7.26 pm Before you groan :-) there was a recent announcement which included State and territory nominated visas will no longer be subject to occupational ceiling limitations The minimum ceiling for each occupational group will be 1000 invitations. Given the previous ceiling 2331 Chemical and Materials Engineers* 360 assuming they increase the ceiling to 1000 places that should change the above points/dates considerably but it is unlikely we will know how much until at least the next round of invites... Good luck
Guest MIchelle Romano Report post Posted March 6, 2014 Hi Tee, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Much appreciated. I had to re-read that announcement again cause I didn't get it at first. Does that mean ,that 2331 Chemical and Materials Engineers now have a ceiling of 1000, for the rest of 2014? Which means the number of invites given out per round would increase significantly? Hope that's the case.. *fingers crossed*
Guest TeeTMI Report post Posted March 26, 2014 For those waiting, although not yet showing on the most recent report there has been a big movement in the number of points / deeming date required to obtain an invite. Good news for many. Keep an eye out for the next report.
