Guest Kate Report post Posted August 1, 2013 The Sun-Herald City2Surf, presented by Westpac is not just Sydney's favourite sporting event, it is the world's largest run, with 85,000 registered participants in 2011 - a greater number than the London and New York Marathons combined. Since 1971 Sydneysiders have been joined by participants from all over the world, elite athletes rubbing shoulders with locals to run, walk or watch the 14 kilometre race from Hyde Park in Sydney's central business district to the finish at spectacular Bondi Beach. In 2011 entrants raised more than $3.6 million for charity and a target and this year we hope to raise even more. Please visit the City2Surf website for further details. Guest northshorepom Report post Posted August 1, 2013 I did this last year Don't expect a great time (in performance terms)! It's mad busy Not doing it this year although I reckon I could just manage it as I'm back into proper running (35km so far this week). I quite like the course although getting back from Bondi, for me, is a drag especially as it's so busy. There's one long climb (not too steep though) coming up from Rose Bay to Vaucluse, then a nice long descent at the end into Bondi from Dover Heights which is a nice rest for the legs
