![]() Shanghai "YuYuan" in Puxi ![]() [/quote]Shanghai Puxi in 2005 ![]() Shanghai in China is a city of different flavor more close to modern New York (not old part), or several of them combined! Sydney cbd is like a part of it. A commercial city that widely adopts big and grand architectures. It's said to have over 3,000 skyscrapers over 400ft (about 30 stories, mostly high ceilings of over 12ft), or 13,000 over 100ft, according to xinhua sources. Just another alien taste. Is there a possibility that we build Sydney into that style? Last edited by James Lord : 09-25-2008 at 04:21 PM. |

I agree to a certain extent.
With immigration going the way it is the Sydney CBD needs to be 'taken back' all the way past redfern and into the Alexandria area. More high rise appartments are needed and as more of these are built there'll be more commercial high rise. But id prefer it to go the same way as new york where there is a defined 'strip' of high rise buildings belonging to the CBD area. Not like Shanghai. Shanghai has a MASSIVE population and Sydney will NEVER reach a population like that so we dont need the uncontrolled forest of towers that Shanghai has. Also id like to see another Centrepoint Tower building of almost the same design except being above the 400m mark. Sydney could do with some supertalls. |
