My family and I are moving to Sydney from Christchurch NZ in January 2012. We have 2 daughters, aged 6 and 3.

I will be based in Mascot for my work. We are wanting some advice on which suburbs would suit our needs - not too far to travel to work, good public school options, safe/family-friendly area. We will have around $800-$950 a week available for rent.

Based upon that budget, look for a house in Mattraville, Bexley, Eastgardens, Botany and anywhere around Banksia, Rockdale, Hurstville etc.

There will be plenty to choose form, all decent size and modern condition and all within 20 mins drive of your work.
