Default People in need of affection

I personally think that people who are so attatched to their dogs is because they need some kind of affection that they arenīt receiving from the human race. A dog doesnīt need much for it to wiggle its tail and make you feel happy. Anyway thatīs why I think they put their dog before anyone else.

Default Lonely > get dog > manage badly > alienate > even more lonely

I can see why people get dogs, but why do they have to manage them so badly?

Only a small part of our population is into dogs and most of them are not going to be available for a relationship.

I have no problem with a well managed, well behaved dog, but so few of them are.

Their owners seem to take the lead from the dog...

I'm a dog person!
I pride myself on having a well behaved dog and people appear to be endeared by her charms.
There is some truth in ExAussie's post - the more time one spends with people, the more one prefers the company of their dog (certainly here in the UK)!

Not too sure if I've done this correctly - but hopefully a picture of my pride and joy will now appear alongside my posts!

Default What's your opinion?

ExAussie and Pommie B,
What's your opinion?
Should those who don't like dogs stay out of the park?

No, I think dog owners should walk their dogs correctly and pick up their doings (pooh) in the park and people who donīt like dogs go their own way and remember that animals need exercise and a park is a very nice place to do it. My sister lives in Sydney and she takes her dog to a dog park. Maybe there should be more dog parks and peopleīs park I hope Iīve answered with some sense.
I really donīt like people who donīt like dogs (animals in general) I find they are less compasionate. Maybe Iīm one of those that say if you donīt like my dogs, turtles and bird donīt come in.

Thoroughly agree with Ex-Aussie.
I don't think those that dislike dogs should stay out of anywhere. Dog owners should be responsible for their dogs - walk and feed regularly, collect and dispose of all poo properly and not allow their dog to be a menace.
I remember that Australians treat their dogs very differently to the Brits - many dogs live outside in the yard and are walked off lead - I suppose that this doggie independence may be echoed by the owner (don't have to bother policing nuisance caused by the dog).
Here in the UK we have many wonderful dogs - it's just the owners that are debatable (many dogs are "status" dogs). And we have many debatable owners!
